Institution Summary

The University of Birmingham was founded in 1900, becoming England’s first civic university.

As one of the leaders of the fast-evolving field of cancer immunotherapy, the University of Birmingham is engaged in cutting-edge research into all aspects of cancer, from understanding the cancer genome to multi-centre clinical trials of novel therapies at the university’s Institute of Cancer and Genomic Sciences.

The University of Birmingham works closely with the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham in a cross-centre partnership of academic and clinical research groups within in the Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy Centre. Working collaboratively, the researchers are focused on developing internationally outstanding basic tumour immunology research and translating key discoveries into improvements in cancer treatment.
