Our research work is funded by Cancer Research UK (CRUK), Fondazione AIRC per la Ricerca sul Cancro (AIRC) [AIRC Foundation for Cancer Research in Italy] and Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (AECC) [Spanish Association Against Cancer], through the Accelerator Awards scheme.

CRUK

Cancer Research UK (CRUK) is the largest independent cancer research organisation in the world. As a charitable organisation, most of the funding received by CRUK is through donations, legacies, community fundraising, events, retail and corporate partnerships. The charity plays a valuable role by working with governments in Westminster, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Europe to campaign on issues important to scientists and supporters. CRUK also develops a variety of policies to inform Government decisions related to cancer treatment and research.

AIRC

Fondazione AIRC per la Ricerca sul Cancro (AIRC) is a non-profit organisation in Italy involved in raising the awareness of cancer via a number of projects and fund-raising campaigns. AIRC has built a strong reputation for engaging with schools about cancer awareness through tailored initiatives and communication strategies suitable for young audiences. AIRC is extensively involved in a wide range of institutional activity and funds a number of research grants and programmes both in Italy and abroad.

AECC

Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (AECC) is the leading cancer charity in Spain and actively works to combat the social inequalities faced by patients with a cancer diagnosis. In particular, AECC offers free services for patients and families affected by cancer including medical advice, psychological care and social care. Other patient services provided by AECC cover the adaptation of accommodation and legal-labour assistance. AECC also funds several cancer-related research projects and develops educational programs and activities to promote healthy lifestyles aimed at cancer prevention.

Sarcoma Patient Advocacy Global Network

Engagement with patients diagnosed with sarcoma is vital to our research. Therefore, we work closely with the Sarcoma Patient Advocacy Global Network (SPAGN), who provide a common, influential, international patient voice for patients with sarcoma around the globe.

With 57 member groups spanning five continents, SPAGN plays a key role in improving the treatment and care of patients with sarcoma by offering information and support, and by increasing the visibility of sarcoma with policymakers and the public. The network is also a consortium member and partner of the SELNET (Sarcoma European-Latin American Network) project.
