Institution Summary
The Instituto de Biomedicina de Sevilla (IBiS) was created in 2006 with a mission to contribute to the strengthening of biomedical research in Spain and become a research centre of excellence in southern Europe.
Located within the Universitario Virgen del Rocío (HUVR) complex, the work at IBiS aims to promote the rapid transfer of research knowledge at both cellular and molecular level to a clinical setting. As a multidisciplinary biomedical research centre, IBiS plays a critical role in cancer research with a focus on cancer biology, cancer diagnosis and treatment of cancer. IBiS, together with the HUVR, contributes to the specialist research work on sarcomas as a member of the European Reference Network for rare adult solid cancers (EURACAN).
